SANS ASLP Security Awareness Training Practice Exam – Prep Guide & Practice Test

Following your organization's procedure for reporting unusual behavior on your computer is essential because it ensures that the issue is handled appropriately and efficiently. Organizations typically have established protocols in place for identifying and responding to potential security incidents, which may involve notifying the IT department or a security team.

By adhering to these procedures, you not only help protect your own data and devices but also contribute to the overall security of the organization's network. This approach allows trained professionals to investigate the issue thoroughly and deploy appropriate measures to mitigate any potential risks.

Taking actions like ignoring the issue, seeking help from a colleague without following official channels, or attempting to fix the problem on your own may lead to further complications or risks. It can impede the organization's ability to respond effectively to a security threat and could potentially compromise sensitive information or lead to larger security breaches. Following established reporting procedures is thus the most responsible and effective course of action.
